Before we begin, there are a few ideas that are so important that absolutely everyone should review these before doing anything.
- ensure your hard drive is encrypted
- use a password manager to manage and generate complex passwords for every system you have access to
- use multi-factor auth whenever possible to add an extra layer of security
- never share credentials through email or chat
- avoid using shared accounts to access resources. Don't share your account and don't use someone else's.
- avoid sharing screenshots or videos with any sensitive or personally identifiable information visible
- avoid storing client data on your computer if you no longer need it
- if you're aware of any data breach, report it immediately
